Well I found one that is out of NY it is called Empower Mortgage couldn't ask for better people! I have worked with others and well they all suck compared to these guys!
Depends on how you define "best'. Countrywide is the largest mortgage banking company in the United States. If you're looking for a home loan, that's the place to go. If you're looking for a job, well they have the reputation of being a sweat shop.
